- Working for a driving school company – There are plenty of companies that take on driving instructors to become part of their larger team, and although they do work independently they are still representatives of the company they work for. This is a great way for people to get the right qualifications for becoming a driving instructor as the company that you work for would give you all the required qualifications you need. Working for a driving school company can be a great way for you to see if you like the work before setting up your own company if thats what you intended to do. The advantages of owning your own franchise of a company such as this is that along with the car and other equipment that is normally provided for you they will usually send learners enquiring for instructors in your area to you.
- Qualifications you will need to be a driving instructor – The training for becoming a driving instructor is called the Approved Driving Instructor exams (ADI). These tests consist of 3 different parts; a computer based theory test, a practical test of driving ability and a practical test of teaching ability. Once this test is complete you can then decide whether you 
would like to start your own independent company, you want to join part of a franchise or work for a certain driving school, all of these options make it possible for you to work from home as and when you are free.
- Skills and interests needed to be a driving instructor – There are certain things you would need to think about before starting to work from home as a driving instructor, such as skills and interests. Some of these include; excellent driving ability, have extensive road safety knowledge and have a genuine enthusiasm for driving. It's important for you to have plenty of patience and the ability to keep calm when things go wrong as well as being able to communicate any errors in a clear, constructive manner. It would also be helpful if you were to have basic knowledge on car maintenance and mechanics, for example being able to explain how to change gears etc.
