What is Telemarketing?
Telemarketing or telesales as it is also commonly known is still a widely used sale method for many companies because direct sales such as telesales are seen as a more personal approach.
Telesales has become so popular because of its convienience the staff don't need to spend all day trailing round possible customers, but most importantly it's easy for the customer as they don't have to go anywhere to purchase the products on offer. Here are some different examples of telemarketing opportunities available to those not able to leave their home for work, or with limited free time;
Many telesales companies have a wide and varied working pattern that can fit well with most lifestyles, some have 9-5 routine but others either start earlier in the morning or work later in the evenings. This type of shift pattern is excellent for parents with little or no child care when their child isn’t at school because they can have the ability to work around the times they don’t have their child.
What skills do you need to work in telesales?
There are of course certain requirements that you would need to have to be successful in this sector of work some of these qualities would include confidence, good telephone manner and helpful nature. Any one wanting to do this job at home should have sufficient knowledge on the products to answer any questions raised by the customer, otherwise there would be no sense in them having to ring another person to get information about issues the customers may have.
Dependant on the kind of company the person works for they may need to have specialist skills, for example computer knowledge or extensive product knowledge. For example if a person were to work from home for an IT company a they would need to have enough knowledge in the subject to support and help with the customer’s technical queries. It wouldn’t be much use for the person to work from home and have to rely on others to resolve issues that customers are calling in with.
The type of work in which you would have to specialise would vary from company to company but of course you would have to have certain qualifications or skills to work at home, these would be decided by the employer when looking for a suitable candidate. There are plenty of opportunities available for those that want to do telephone work from home.
